Correspondence problems

Correspondence problems are the problems in which different combinations of objects are made.

Example: Darcy has 3 pairs of jeans and 2 tops. How many different outfits can she make?

Method 1: List all the possible combinations.

We can make the following different outfits:


She can make 6 different outfits.

Method 2:
Another way of finding all the possible combinations is by using Multiplication.

Number of T-shirts = 2
Number of Jeans = 3

Number of different outfits = 2 × 3 = 6
